Chinese banks to hold differentiated housing loans

BEIJING - China's four largest state banks said Thursday they will continue their efforts for the differentiated housing loan policy.

The four state-run lenders, called "Big Four" are Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China.

The lenders said they would stick to the government's macro control policies in the housing market and abide by the principle of making progress while maintaining stability.

They said they would extend financial services to improve the number of affordable housing projects and enhancing a sustainable, stable and healthy development of real estate.

The Big Four will roll out a reasonable interest rate on mortgages for first home purchases based on benchmark interest rates by the central bank. They will also finance qualified developers for ordinary commercial housing that meet the market demand.

Meanwhile, the banks said they strongly from the government-engineered to support affordable housing programs.
