McLean, Va., April 26, 2012 / PRNewswire / - Freddie Mac (OTC: FMCC) today released results of its Primary mortgage market Survey ® (PMMS ®), shows the average fixed mortgage rates down a bit and hovering just above their record lows as markets awaited the Federal Reserve's monetary policy announcement. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgages average 3.88 percent and has been under 4 percent all but one week in 2012. The 15-year fixed, a popular refinancing choice, averaged 3.12 percent.

    30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 3.88 percent with an average 0.7 point for the week ending April 26, 2012, down from last week when the average of 3.90 percent. Last year at this time, the average 30-year FRM 4.78 percent.
    15-year FRM this week, on average 3.12 percent with an average 0.6 point, down from last week when the average of 3.13 percent.A years ago at this time, the 15-year FRM average 3.97 percent.
    5-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) averaged 2.85 percent this week, averaging 0.6 points, up from last week when the average of 2.78 percent. A year ago, the 5-year ARM average 3.51 percent.
    1-year Treasury-indexed ARM average 2.74 percent this week, averaging 0.6 points, down from last week when the average of 2.81 percent. At this time last year, the 1-year ARM average 3.15 percent.
